Nothing to eat or drink for 8 hours prior to your surgery. If you are having surgery in the morning, do not eat or drink (even water) starting midnight the night before. This includes candy, water, and chewing gum. This is very important so that we can ensure you have a safe surgery without complications.
A responsible adult needs to bring you to your appointment and stay with you at all times for at least 24 hours after your surgery. Your driver must be present in the waiting area throughout your entire procedure.
Wear comfortable clothing to your surgery. You may want to go home and sleep right after your procedure. It is best to wear short sleeve shirt, so that we can have access for your monitors and IV. It is best to wear shoes that tie, so they do not slip off after your sedation.
Remove any fake nails, acrylic nails, solar, gel, or dark nail polish that can interfere with the pulse oximetry monitor that will go on your finger.
Most of your routine medications can be taken as normal, with only a little sip of water to take the pill(s). If you are taking any medications, please notify the office so that they may instruct you whether or not to take your medications.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to notify the office at (703) 821-0056.
